Maintenance Updates

If we are oblidged to perform maintenance at one of our datacenters, we will endeavour to choose a time that will impact our customers as little as possible. Our standard maintenance window is sunday morning, between 01:00 AM to 05:00 AM local time.

There is no planned maintenance this month.

GeckoDomains reserves the right to perform emergency maintenance at any time necesary. All maintenance will be documented on this site.

Datacenters
Our data centers and co-location facilities offer a vast array of data and tele- communications solutions to businesses by providing co-location, interconnectivity, hosting and telehouse services. GeckoDomains services range from basic housing to advanced 24/7 support services in a controlled environment facility. We provide and deliver fully managed facility solutions and customize our services to the specific requirements of our customers.
We use the following datacenters:

TelecityRedbus & Versatel

The Versatel Co-location services include the following:
~ Facilities: 48VDC, 230UPS, generator, controlled environment, cable management
~ Managed Services: 24/7 access, on-site support, back-up services, monitoring
~ Security: key access, CCTV, access procedure, at least dual fiber access
~ Resilience: redundant power feeds, generator back-up, multiple fiber access points

The Versatel datacenterNuon powerstation is next door

Cabinets or footprints
Versatel's Co-location services handle your equipment location in a secure and ready to use co-location environment. Co-location is delivered per server, cabinet, footprint or per square meter. A footprint is defined as floor space in a facility on which one cabinet can be placed and is as large as a standard cabinet (0,60 x 0,80 meters).

Floor space
Cabinets or footprints
The floor space is delivered in a secure co-location environment, which is customer-tailored, based on dedicated rooms (suite) or cage areas. The floor space can be used to install customer equipment on 80x90 cm maximum footprints. The infrastructure is designed to support site by site positioning of the cabinets with 90/100cm space between the rows. Power is delivered on a 230 VAC bus bar connection or in case of 48VDC cabling will be coiled up under the computer floor and left un-terminated.

Environment
A raised computer floor with ground clearance of at least 30 cm (in the data centers mostly 60 cm), and a ceiling to floor height of at least 2.30 m. A cable tray arrangement to separate 230 VAC power and data cabling by overhead or a raised floor cable tray system. Versatel is responsible for all cabling to the customer rack. The demarcation point is the installed patch panel on the backside of the cabinet. Customers will be responsible for making the physical connection to their own equipment.

Power specifications:
Power delivery based on:
~ 230 VAC with diesel generator back-up (service included)
~ 48V DC(1) with 2 hour battery back-up (A en B separated power supply supported)
~ UPS 230V AC with 1/2 hours battery back-up

In the event of a major outage affecting the power, a battery back-up is available with fall back to a diesel generator. The diesel generator is available at selective facilities. The battery back-up time for the facilities without generator is measured at 4 hours for 48VDC and 1 hour for UPS 230VAC at full-load. Per cabinet a maximum of 2500 VA power use is available.

Our main datacenter is RedBus Interworks, Gyroscoopweg 2E in Amsterdam

We are connected to the internet via various providers to achieve optimal connectivity.
Next to this it results in network redudancy which ensures the stability that's needed.

Exchanges & Carriers

GeckoDomains is connected via large internet exchanges. An internet exchange is a connection-point for all large ISP's. For instance, Amsterdam has the AMS-IX and NL-IX. GeckoDomains is via multiple fiber rings connected to the AMS-IX, but also the NL-IX and other exchanges in other countries.
Next to the exchanges we also need connections to the rest of the world via peering partners. GeckoDomains only chooses biger and high quality carriers to improve network performance even more.
Connections Speed Provider
AMS-IX 3x 1000 Mbit
NL-IX 1000 Mbit
BN-IX 1000 Mbit
Teleglobe 1000 Mbit
Abovenet/MFN 1000 Mbit
KPN 1000 Mbit
Cogent 1000 Mbit
Interoute 1000 Mbit

More technical information about the datacenter can be found: here.

Also concerning security we don't make exceptions. All GeckoDomains (RedBus) datacenters have advanced 24/7/365 security systems to ensure that your equipment is 100% save! The datacenter building is protected by a fence and gate, 24x7x365 monitoring by onsite personnel to check all people within the building, and CCTV video camera surveillance with movement detection.

Access to the buildings, datarooms and individual rooms are managed by Proximity Access Cards (PAC), allowing us to restrict individuals to specific area's of the datacenter ensuring higher level of security. The use of the PAC are logged by id, time stamp and date. The card can not be used by other individuals, when the card is used a picture of the card owner is shown to the security system. We make sure the procedures are secure, while not obstructing our customers to do business.

A Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA) has been installed on every site. These especially sensitive sensors are connected to the Building Management system. This BMS is continiously being monitored by our control room personnel. Due to this procedure, possible fires will be detected in a very early stage, allowing us to make sure any possible damage will be as little as possible or even avoided. Next to this the datacenter has an advanced water fog system that puts out fires without damaging equipment.

To be able to provide optimal performance for your equipment, temperature in our datarooms are always between 21 and 2 degrees celcius. The relative humidity will remain between 50% and 10%. Both are being monitored by our BMS.

Our policy guarantee's our customer have a redundant, stable and trustworthy power supply. Next to this it's easily scalable. Providing power is specifically done per customer/cabinet. Our onsite generators (4 huge ship-engines) allow us to be completely selfpowered
All our datacenters have N+1 standard as minimum policy level, in simple terms this means that when 3 generators are necessary to supply non-stop power, 4 have been installed.
